AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING ONE MOSQUITO CONTROL DISTRICT FOR <br />THE CITY OF PORTSMOUTH IN ACCORDANCE WIT~ SECTION 32.1~188, <br />CODE OF VIRGINIA, 1950, AS AMENDED. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, by resolutions adopted in 1957, 1959 and 1967, <br />the Council of the City of Portsmouth established three (3) <br />separate Mos~uito Control Districts with three (3) Mosquito <br />Control Commissions operating within the boundaries of the <br />City of Portsmouth; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Section 32.1-188, Code of Virginia, 1950, as <br />amended, provides that the governing body o~ any city which <br />has established more than one (!) Mosquito Control District, <br />may consolidate such 'districts under a single commission <br />which shall function under the Health Department of the <br />City; and <br /> <br /> %~EREAS, the consolidation of such commissions w±lI <br />not adversely affect funding received from the State for <br />opera%ions of such commissions: and <br /> <br /> ?VHEREAS, such consolidation will eliminate the con- <br />dition of having separate action by such comm±ssions~ <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFOr, BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the <br />City of Portsmou~n, Virginia, that there is hereby established <br />for the City of Portsmouth one ~) Mosquito Control District <br />comprising of the whole territory within the boundaries of <br />the City of Portsmouth; said D±strict to be administered by <br />a Mosquito Control Commission of three (~3~ merabe~s, one of <br />whom shall be the Director of Public ~ealth.'
