AN ORDINANCE CLOSING A PORTION OF FAIRFAX AVENUE. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, E. L. Copeland, Gladys D. Copeland, and Mary <br />A. Stephenson, have made application to vacate, close and <br />discontinue the hereinafter-described portion of Fairfax <br />Avenue; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, by resolution of this Council adopted May 15, <br />1980, viewers were appointed pursuant to Section 15.1-364, <br />Code of Virginia, 1950, as amended, to view the hereinafter- <br />described portion of said street and to report in writing <br />whether in their opinion any, and if any, what inconvenience <br />would result from discontinuing the said street; and <br /> <br /> W~EREAS, the said viewers have reported <br />that in their opinion no inconvenience would <br />the closing and discontinuing of said street. <br /> <br />in wr~ting <br />result from <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the <br />City of Portsmouth, Virginia, that the hereinafter-described <br />street be closed and vacated as a public street. <br /> <br />FAIRFAX AVENUE <br /> <br /> That certain portion of Fairfax Avenue <br />(20 feet in width) shown on the plat of <br />Fairfa×, duly recorded in the Clerk's Office <br />of the Circuit Court of the City of Ports- <br />mouth, Virginia, in Map Book 1, p. 34, which <br />lies between the western line of Parker Ave- <br />nue projected southward across Fairfax Avenue <br />and the western line of Walnut Street projected <br />northward across Fairfax Avenue.
