AN ORDINANCE TO REENACT ORDINANCE NO. 1979-48 IMPOSING ~LND <br />LEVYING TAXES ~OR EACH FISCAL YEAR BEGIL~ING JUL~ !ST AND <br />ENDING JUNE 3OTH, UNLESS OTHERWISE CHANGED BY COUNCIL, ON <br />REAL ESTATE, TANGIBLE PERSONAL PROPERTY, AND MACHINERY AND <br />TOOLS WITHIN THE CITY OF PORTSMOUTH, VIRGINIA, FOR THE <br />PURPOSE OF RAISING REVENUE FOR THE SUPPORT OF GO\~RN~NTAL <br />OPERATIONS AND T~ PUBLIC FREE SCHOOLS AND TO PAY PRINCIPAL <br />AND iNTE~.EST ON THE PUBLIC DEBT. <br /> <br /> BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the Cit5~ of Portsmouth, <br />Virgin~: <br /> <br /> 1. That Ordinance No. 1979-48 is reenacted imposing <br />an~ levying taxes ~or each fiscal year beginning July ls% <br />and ending June 3Otb, unless otherwise changed by Council, <br />on real estate~ tangible personal property, and machinery <br />and tools within the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, for the <br />purpose of raising revenue for the support of governmental <br />operations and %he public free schools and to pay principal <br />and interest on %he public debt. <br /> <br /> 2.
