(b) The City Manager may authorize payment for <br />overtime to any employee. <br /> <br />Section 11. <br /> <br />Additional .Compensation - Firefighters and <br />Police Office~s. <br /> <br /> (a) Any sworn officer of the Fire and Police Depart- <br />ments below the rank of Assistant Chief placed on special <br />assignment duty shall be paid at the rate of thirteen <br />dollars ($13.O0) for the first two hours or a major portion <br />thereof, and six dollars and fifty cents ($6.50) for each <br />subsequent hour or major portion thereof. Such additional <br />compensation must be entered by the Chief of the Depart- <br />ment on the next succeeding payroll submitted to the <br />Finance Director. All special assignments must be authorized <br />by the Chief of the Department, or during his absence or <br />disability, by his duly authorized designee. Overtime work <br />shall not be considered special assignment duty. <br /> <br /> (b) Any sworn officer of the Fire or Police Departments <br />who, in his official capacity, when not on regular assigned <br />period of duty, is required to appear in court, shall be <br />paid at the rate of thirteen dollars ($13.00) for the first <br />two hours or major portion thereof, and six dollars and <br />fifty cents ($6.50) for each subsequent hour or major portion <br />thereof. <br /> <br /> (c) Any sworn officer of the Fire or Police Departments <br />who is required to wear civilian clothes in the regular per- <br />formance of official duties shall be paid an additional <br />fifty dollars ($50.00) per month as clothing allowance. <br />This allowance will be paid quarterly commencing with the first <br />fiscal quarter after assignment. <br /> <br /> (d) Sworn personnel in the grades of Police Officer, <br />Police Sergeant, and Police Lieutenant shall receive an <br />allowance in the amount of fifty dollars ($50.00) per month <br />as compensation for being required to wear a handgun at all <br />times. <br /> <br /> (e) Police Department Helicopter Pilots shall receive <br />a flight pay allowance in the amount of one hundred dollars <br />($100.00) per month. <br /> <br /> (f) Polic~ Officers serving in special programs and <br />pilot programs shall be compensated in such amounts as <br />authorized by City Council or in such amount for which <br />contracts have been entered for the purpose of developing <br />effective police techniques. All assignments will be approved <br />in advance by the City Manager. <br /> <br /> (g) Sworn personnel in the grades of Firefighter, <br />Fire Lieutenant and Fire Captain, who have successfully <br />completed the Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) course, <br />shall receive an allowance in the amount of fifty dollars <br />($50.00) per month. <br /> <br /> <br />
