Section 4. <br /> <br />Compensation and Salary Adjustment. <br /> <br /> On and after July 1, 1981, the salary steps for the <br />respective positions set forth in Section 2. of this <br />ordinance shall constitute the plan of compensation for <br />all persons classified under said Section : (See PAY SCHEDULES). <br /> <br />(a) General Increases° <br /> <br /> The City Manager may recommend the granting of General <br />Increases for all persons classified under this Plan. <br /> <br /> Such General Increases will be applied directly to the <br />PAY SCHEDULE such that each grade and step shall reflect <br />the increase. <br /> <br /> When a General Increase is granted, there is no movement <br />on the PAY SCHEDULE; the employee retains the same grade and <br />step designation. <br /> <br />(b) Ingrade Progression. <br /> <br /> Except as noted, all employees shall receive a one step <br />(two steps under the former step lettering), increase annually <br />until they reach the G or Gt (formerly M or N steps) immediately <br />prior to the application of the longevity movement. <br /> <br /> Employees will receive their Ingrade Progression, where <br />applicable, on t~e basis of their position on the PAY SCHEDULE <br />of this Classification and Pay Plan. Specifically, those <br />employees on the A, B or C etc., unshaded steps, will continue <br />to progress on these ~egular steps, until they reach the G <br />step. Employees on the Bt, C~ etc. shaded transitional steps, <br />will continue to progress in ~e same manner'~ t--~ reac~ <br />the Gt steps. <br /> <br /> The exception to standard Ingrade Progression is that <br />an employee who attains the Ft step in the PAY SCHEDULE, <br />will progress to the Gt on his anniversary date, only if <br />the employee has attained ten (10) years service. If such <br />employee attains the. Pt step with less than ten (10) years <br />service, his/her progression will be to the G step. Upon <br />attainment of these last steps, (G or Gt), of the PAY <br />SCHEDULE, paraqraph (c) below, pertaining to longevity <br />increases, applies. <br /> <br /> No employe~ may receive more than one Ingrade Progression <br />per year except under the provisions of paragraph (e) below. <br /> <br /> <br />
