such shuffleboard and ten dollars [$10.00] on each additional such <br />shuffleboard. Each such table or shuffleboard shall be assessed for <br />licenses whether used or not. <br /> <br />Section 20-63. Carnivals, circuses and trained animal shows. <br /> <br /> a. Carnivals. Every person who exhibits performances in <br />a carnival as defined in Section 58-277 of the Code of Virginia, <br />1950, as amended, in the city, shall pay a license tax of one hundred <br />eighty dollars ($180.00} per day that such carnival exhibits in the <br />city. <br /> <br /> b. Circuses. Every person who exhibits performances of a <br />circus or circuses and menagerie or wild west show in the city shall <br />pay a license tax of one hundred eighty dollars ($180.00~ per day <br />that such circus exhibits in the city. <br /> <br /> c. Trained animal shows. Every person who shall exhibit <br />performances of trained animal shows in the city, shall pay a license <br />tax of seventy-five dollars [$75.00) per day that such trained animal <br />show shall exhibit in the' city. <br /> <br /> d. Surety bond. Each person who exhibits performances as <br />described in stthsections (a), (b) and lc) of this section shall, <br />befor~ beginning operation in the city, post a surety bond in the <br />amount of five hundred dollars ($500.00}, which bond shall assure <br />faithful compliance by the licensee with all of the laws of the <br />city pertaining to revenue and regulations. <br /> <br />Section 20-64. Electric Light and Power, Heat and Gas. <br /> <br /> Any person who shall engage in the business of furnishing <br />heat, light and power, whether by means of electricity or gas, <br />in the ~clty, shall pay a license tax equal to one-half of one per <br />cent (1/2 of 1%) of the gross annual receipts accruing to such <br />person from said business in the city; provided, however, that there <br />shall be deducted any sum or sams paid by such person to the city as <br />a merchants license tax and license taxes, except motor vehicle <br />license taxes. <br /> <br />Section 20-65. Fortune Tellers, clairvoyants and practitioners of <br /> palmistry, phrenology, and handwriting analysis. <br /> <br /> 2Lny and every person who, for compensation, shall pretend to t~l <br />fortunes or assttme to act as a clairvoyant or to practice palmistry, <br />phrenology or handwriting analysis, shall pay a license tax of <br />one thousand dollars [$1,000.00) per annum. Such license shall not <br />be proratable or transferable. <br /> <br />Section 20-66. Jttnk and secondhand paper canvassers. <br /> <br /> a. ~very person acting as a canvasser for the purpose of <br />buying junk, secondhand paper or other matter for any junk or <br />secondhand paper dealer, or for sale to such a dealer, shall pay <br />an annual license tax of fifty dollars [$50.00). <br /> <br /> <br />
