AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND THE CODE OF THE CITY OF PORTSMOUTH, <br />VIRGINIA, 1973, AS AMENDED, BY AMENDING SECTIONS 37-18 kND <br />37-66 PERTAINING TO THE OPERATION OF TAXICABS IN THE CITY. <br /> <br /> BE iT ORDAINED by the Council of the ~City of Portsmouth, <br />Virginia: <br /> <br /> 1. That Sections 37-18 and 37-66 of the Code of the <br />City of Portsmouth, Virginia, 1973, be amended and reordained <br />to read as follows: <br /> <br />Section 37-18. Compliance with Article. <br /> <br /> The operation of taxicabs upon the streets of the city <br />shall be subject to the conditions, regulations and restrictions <br />set forth in this Article. It shall be unlawful to'operate, <br />or cause to be operated within the city any taxicab unless <br />such conditions, regulations and restrictions are complied with <br />by owners, operators and drivers. Nothing contained herein <br />shall prohibit a taxicab duly licensed in another city or <br />county from delivering a passenger picked up outside the <br />limits of the City to some location in this city. Additionally, <br />nothing contained herein shall prohibit such taxicab licensed <br />in another city or county after delivering a passenger to some <br />location in this city, from picking up a passenger in the city <br />and delivering such passenger to the city or cou_nty wherein <br />such taxicab is duly licensed; provide, ~owever, that the city <br />wherein such taxicab is duly licensed allows taxicabs duly <br />licensed in the City of Portsmouth equal or greater rights <br />and privileges to operate within its boundaries as are contained <br />· in this section in regard to taxicabs duly licensed in other <br />jurisdictions. <br /> <br />Section 37-66. Rates established. <br /> <br />(a) For the first one-ninth (1/9) mile ' <br /> or fraction thereof ........................
