AN ORDINANCE TQAMEND THE CODE OF THE CITY OF PORTSMOUTH, <br />VIRGINIA, 1973, BY AMENDING SECTION 40-69 (b) THEREOF, <br />PERTAINING TO INDUSTRIAL M-2 DISTRICT USES. <br /> <br /> BE IT ORDAINED by <br />Virginia: <br /> <br />the Council of the City of Portsmouth, <br /> <br /> 1. That Section 40-69 (b) of the Code of the City of <br />Portsmouth, Virginia, 1973, be amended to read as follows: <br /> <br />Section 40-69. Industrial M-2 Disurlc~ uses. <br /> <br /> (b) Within the Industrial M-2 District, the fo!low~ <br />lng uses may be permitted upon the granting of a use permit <br />as provided in this Article: <br /> <br />Abattoirs. <br /> <br />Amonia, <br />Cement, <br /> <br />bleaching powder or chlorine manufacture, <br /> <br />lime, plaster manufacture. <br /> <br />Coal storage facllltle , including facilities for <br /> the use of receiving, storage, processing and <br /> shipment of coal or other similar materials. <br /> <br />Distillation of bones, coal, petroleum, refuse, <br /> grain, tar and wood. <br /> <br />Explosives, ammunition, fireworks, gunpowder manu- <br /> facture. <br /> <br />Fat rendering, production of fats and oils f~om <br /> animal or vegatable products by boi.lding or dis- <br /> tillations. <br /> <br />Fertalizer manufacture. <br /> <br />Garbage, offal and animal reduction or processing. <br /> <br />Garbage and waste incinerators. <br /> <br />Glue and size manufacture. <br /> <br />Heliport. <br /> <br />Junkyards, but only when conducted within an area <br /> permanently enclosed by a fence or wall which shall <br /> constitute a barrier of at least ninety (90) per- <br /> cent solidity throughout its entire length and not <br /> less than eight (8) feet in height unless the City <br /> Council shall specify different requirements in <br /> the use permit, and provided no open burning shall <br /> be conducted by any junkyard operator or his agents <br /> or employees at any junkyard sites; each days' con- <br /> <br /> <br />
