Section 39-7. Procedure for removal of weeds and debrisr <br /> when owner is unknown or cannot be found. <br /> <br /> If an owner of the land or lot on which the nuisance <br />exists or which abuts the alley, sidewalk or street on which <br />the nuisance exist is unknown or cannot be found, the notice <br />referred to in Section 39-5 shall be dispensed with, and the <br />Director Shall cause the offending weeds and debris to be <br />cut, or if necessary, removed and abated and shall transmit <br />to the City Treasurer a statement of all costs incurred <br />thereby, which shall include a fee of thirty-five dollars <br />($35.00) to cover the administrative expenses incurred, <br />which shall be added Ko the taxes assessed against the real <br />estate on which the nuisance and/or offending weeds and <br />debris existed, or which abuts the alley, sidewalk or street <br />on which the nuisance and/or offending weeds and/or debris <br />existed, for the insuing tax year and shall be collected <br />with such taxes by any manner prescribed by law for the <br />collection of City taxes. All costs incurred thereby shall <br />be docketed in the Nuisance Abatement LienDocket Book <br />maintained in the office of the City Treasurer, which lien <br />shall exist until removed by payment of said costs in full. <br /> <br /> Adopted by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, <br />Virginia, at a meeting held on May tl, 1982. <br /> <br />Teste: <br /> <br />City Clerk <br /> <br /> <br />
