AN ORDINANCE CLOSING A PORTION OF WALDRON AVENUE. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Town and Country Associates, Ltd., has made <br />application to vacate and close a portion of Waldron Avenue; <br />and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, by resolution of this Council adopted July 13, <br />1982, viewers %~ere appointed pursuant to Section 15.1-364, <br />Code of Virginia, 1950, as a~ended, to view the said portion <br />of Wa!dron Avenue and to report in writing whether in their <br />opinion any, and if any, what inconvenience would result from <br />discontinuing the said street; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, said viewers have reported in writing that in <br />their opinion, no inconvenience would result from the closing <br />and discontinuing of said street; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the said viewers have further recommended that <br />the portion of Waldron Avenue to be closed should be extended <br />to the western boundary of the property known as 2116 Greenwood <br />Drive; and <br /> <br /> WHEP~EAS, the applicant, Town and Country Associates, Ltd., <br />and J~es Mattox, the owner of property known as 2116 Greenwood <br />Drive, have concurred in the expansion of the area of Waldron <br />Avenue to be closed. <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City <br />of Portsmouth~ Virginia, that the hereinafter-described portion <br />of Watdron Avenue be closed and vacated as a public street. <br /> <br />WALDRON AVENUE <br /> <br /> Beginning at a point on the southern <br />boundary of Waldron Avenue, said point being <br />60 feet east of the southeastern intersection <br />of Waldron Avenue and the platted but unimprov- <br />ed street known as Fourth Street, said point <br />also being the intersection of the southern <br />boundary of Waldron Avenue and the western <br />boundary of property known as 2116 Greenwood <br />Drive; thence continuing along the southern <br />boundary of Waldron Avenue in an easterly <br />direction 55 feet to a point at which the <br />southern boundary of Waldron Avenue inter- <br />sects the property line of the property now <br />or formerly owned by Town and Country Associates, <br />Ltd.; thence in a northerly direction along the <br />property line of Town and Country Associates, <br />Ltd., 20 feet to the northern boundary of Waldron <br />Avenue; thence in a westerly direction along the <br />northern boundary of Waldron Avenue 55 feet to <br />a point; thence in a southerly direction 20 feet <br />to the southern boundary of Waldron Avenue, the <br />point of beginning.
