AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND T~E CODE OF THE CITY OF PORTSMOUTH, <br />VIRGINIA, 1973, BY AMENDING SECTION 40-222 PERTAINING TO <br />PETITIONS FOR ZONING AMENDMENTS. <br /> <br /> BE. IT ORDAINED by the Council of %he City of-Portsmouth, <br />VirgiDia: <br /> <br /> t. That SeCtion 40-222 of %he Code of the City of <br />Portsmouth, Virginia. 1973, be amended to read as follows: <br />Section 40-222. Filing of Petition for Change; Proof of <br /> Ownership. <br /> <br /> (a) A petition to ~mend or change the district boundaries <br />or regulations herein or subsequently established may be <br />filedwith the Planning Director by the ovn%er, contract pur- <br />chaser with the ownaer's written consent, or the owner's agent <br />of the property which is the subject of the proposed amendment <br />or change; provided that~the Planning Commission shall not <br />be required to consider any such petition within ten (10) <br />days from the filing of the petition with~the Planning <br />Director. The petition shall contain a description of the <br />area involved, a statement of the present and proposed <br />zoning or rezoning restrictions to be applied to the area, <br />and the names and addresses of~the owner or owners of the <br />property, <br /> <br /> (b) Whenever any person shall file a petition for <br /> amendment er change of the district boundaries as provided <br /> herein, the Planning Director may, upon good cause shown, <br /> require the person filing said petition to submit satisfactory <br /> proof that said person is the owner or the agent of the <br /> owner of the entire area proposed to be rezoned. <br /> 2.
