1982~67 <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND THE CODE OF THE CITY OF PORTSMOUTH, <br />VIRGINIA, 1973, BY AFLENDING SECTION 23-465 T~EREOF, PERTAINING <br />TO LICENSE TAXES FOR MOTOR VEHICLES. <br /> <br /> BE IT ORDAINED by the C~uncil of the City of Portsmouth, <br />Virginia: <br /> <br /> I. That Section 23-465 of the Code of the City of <br />Portsmouth, Virginia, 1973, be amended and reordained to <br />read as follows: <br /> <br />Section 23-465. Levies; collection directed; purpose. <br /> <br /> For each year beginning with January 1st thereofand <br />ending with December 31st following until otherwise changed, <br />there is hereby levied and there 'shall be collected from <br />every person owning a motor vehicle,'traiter or semitrailer, <br />which is normally garaged, stgred or parked within the City <br />limits, a license tax on each such motor vehicle, trailer <br />or semitrailer at the rates as are set forth in Sections 23- <br />470 through 23-476, In the event it cannot be determined <br />where such personal property, described herein, is normally <br />garaged, stored,~ or parked, the situs for the purpose of <br />imposing the license tax shall be the domicile of the owner <br />of such personal property. <br /> <br /> The revenues ~erived from the collection of the license <br />tax shall be for the purpose of providing funds for the <br />operation of the City government, the payment of the City <br />debt, and for other municipal purposes. <br /> <br /> Adopted by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, <br />Virginia, at a meeting held July 13, 1982. <br /> <br />Teste: <br /> <br />City Clerk <br /> <br /> <br />
