Whenever the Director determines %hat a~nuisance exist 'as described in Sections 16-26 and 16-27 of this Code, he shall give notice in-'writing of the existence of the nuisance to. the owner or occupant, or both, of the premises on or in "~which ~h~nuisance exist, and shall order the owner or occupant or both to abate the nuisance described in said notice w±thin such reasonable time as theDirector shall specify~he notice. ~ ~(b) ~Serviceof the notice required~.to~be given under Section 39-5(a) of this Code shall be'made by mailing the the last known street or Post'Office address of , agent, executor, administrator, trUstee,, guardian ~-or occupant to whom iris directed or by delivery thereof to such person, agent, executor, administrator, trustee, guardian or occupant. Proof of so mailing or delivering anotlce shall be sufficient evidence tha~the notice wasserved and the date of mailing or delivery~ asthe case maybe, shall~be the date of service. In the event ~he last known Street or Post Office .laddre~s of the person~-agent,~executor, a..d.~]~.ist~ato~, trustee, guardian or Occupant zs unknown, or the n0tice so mailed is ~returned undelivered by the Post Office Department, then service of the notice shall be made by posting the notice on the land or premises on which ~he nuisance exist or on-the Iand'or premises abutting t~e sidewalk, street or alle~ on which the nu~sance'~x~st. ProoE of posting the notice shall be sufficient evidence ~that the notice was served andthe date of posting shall be the date of i serv ce. ~ (c) The notice required to be given-under Section 39-5(a) of this Cod~ shall set .forth the location of the land, alley, sidewalk, or street onwhich the nuisance exist, and shall specify that the abatement thereof shall be completed within not ce. the'time period set forth in'the i (d) ~ny person to whom notice is sent, as provided for in subsection (a) of this section,'may request, within the time period setfor compliance by said~notice, an enlargement of said time period from the C~ty Manager or his designee Where warranted by extenuating circumstances, the City Manager or his designee may extend the date for completion for an additional period not exceeding thirty (30) days from the date set for compliance in the original notice.
