AN ORDINANCE TO AY~ND THE CODE OF THE CITY OF PORTSMOUTH, <br />VIRGINIA, 1973, BY AMENDING SECTIONS 35-6 A~ 11-47.1 THEREOF, <br />PERTAINING TO BAD CHECK FEES. <br /> <br /> BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, <br />Virginia: <br /> <br /> 1. That Section 35-6 of the Code of the City of Ports- <br />mouth, Virginia, 1973, be amended and reordained to read as <br />follows: <br /> <br />Section 35-6. Bad checks; fee. <br /> <br /> Any person uttering, publishing, or passing any check or <br />draft for the pa~ent of taxes or any other su~s due which is <br />subsequently returned because of insufficient funds, or because <br />there is no account, or because the account has been closed, <br />shall pay in addition to the sum due the fee prescribed in <br />Section ii-47.1. <br /> <br /> 2. That Section 11-47.1 of the Code of .the City of <br />PortsMouth, Vlrgl._ia, 1973, be amended and reordained to <br />read as follows: <br /> <br />S~ctlon 11-47.1. <br /> <br />Schedule of dishonored checks to be <br />maintained; fees to be charged. <br /> <br /> The director of finance, or his delegate, shall maintain <br />a complete list of all checks or drafts uttered, published <br />or passed to the City for payment of taxes or other s~ms due <br />which are subsequently returned because of insufficient funds, <br />no account, or account closed. The person uttering, publishing, <br />or passing such worthless check or draft shall, in addition to <br />all civil liabilities incurred by reason of such check, pay to <br />the City a fee of twenty ($20°00) dollars. <br /> <br /> 3.
