AN ORDINANCE TO CLOSE A PORTIO~ OF EIGHTH STREET. WHERF~S, the City of Portsmouth has made application to vacate, close and discontinue the hereinafter-described portion of Eighth Street; and WHEREAS, by resolution adopted by the Council of the City of Portsmouth on July 12, 1983, viewers were appointed pursuant to ~15.1-364, Code of Virginia., 1950, as araended, to view the hereinafter-described Dor~ion of said street, and to report ~n writing whether in their oDin!on any, and if any, what inconvenience would result from discontinuing the 'said street; and WHEREAS, the viewers have reported in writing that in their opinion no inconvenienc~ ~outd result from the closing and discontinuing of said street. NOW, T~EREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia that the hereinafter-described portions of Eighth Street be closed and vacated as public streets: STREET PARCEL I Beginn%ng at a point on the west side of Eighth Street, said point being north 5° 27' 34" east, 114.58~ from the intersection of Nelson Street and.E~gkth ~tree~; thence continuing along the west side of E%ghth Street 111.15' to the intersection of Eighth Street and Lincoln Street; thence north 85° 55~ 48" west, 13.78' to a point; thence south 4~ 04' 12" east, 111.15' to a ~oint; thence south 85° 55' 48" east, 15.22' %0 the point of beginning. PARCEL Beginning at the intersection of Eighth Street and Nelson Street on the north side of Nelson Street and from thence running along the west side of Eighth Street north 5° 27' 34" east, 114.58' to' a point; thence north 85° 55' 48" west, 15.22' to a point; thence south 5© 27' 34" west, 116.45' to a point on the north side of Nelson Street; thence south 85° 55' 48" east, 15.22' to the point of eglnnlng.
