83-t34

Section 37-25 Currently a taxicab operator is in violation
of the city code when any word other than "taxicab" is used
on the vehicle. The proposed code change would allow for
the word "taxi" or "cab" to be used.

Section 37-29 - Currently there are two taxicab zones
within the City. This often provides confusion as to which
zone a taxicab may operate. It was proposed that the two
zones be eliminated and that a single zone be established
for all taxicab operators. The proposed code change would
establish the single zone and set a $100 parking privilege
fee city-wide. As you know %he two zones currently have a
parking privilege fee of $75 and $100.

Section 37-50 - There has been some confusion as to when
a taxicab can be legally placed in service. The proposed
code change would require that the taxicab have an annual
inspection prior to the issuance of the necessary certi-
icates.

tf you have any questions or co~ents regarding any of the
proposed code changes, please feel free to call on Mr. Stuart
Katz of the City Attorney's Office. Mr. Katz's telephone number
is 393-$731.

Sincerely,

GLH/dkh

cc: City Council
City Attorney

George L.
