AN ORDINANCE TO,MEND THE CODE OF THE CITY OF PORTSMOUTH, <br />VIRGINIA, .1973, BY AMENDING SECTION 40-95 (b) THEREOF, <br />PERTAINING TO THE COMMISSION OF ARCHITECTURAL REVIEW. <br /> <br /> BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, <br />Virginia: <br /> <br /> 1. That Section 40-95 (b) of the Code of the City of <br />Portsmouth, Virginia, 1973, be amended and reordained to <br />read as follows: <br /> <br />Section 40-95. Commission of Architectural Review. <br /> <br /> (b) The Commission shall consist of seven (7) members, <br />all of whom shall be residents of the City. They shall be <br />appointed by the City Council for terms of office of five <br />(5) years from the date of appointment. Of the members ap- <br />pointed, one (1) of the members of the Corm~.ission shall be <br />appointed from at least three (3) nominees made by the <br />Cradock Property Owner's Association, one (1) shall be ap- <br />~pointed from at least three (3) nominees made by the Old <br /> Truxtun Community League, one (1) shall be appointed from <br /> at least three (3) nonimees made by the Olde Towne Civic <br /> League, and one (1) shall be appointed from at least three <br /> (3) nominees made by the Port Norfolk Civic League. The <br /> three (3) remaining members shall be chosen to provide pro- <br /> fessional exoertise as architects, attorne~, real estate <br /> agents or historians. <br /> <br /> A vacancy occurring in the membership of the Commission <br />for any cause shall be filled by the City Council~for the <br />unexpired portion of the term. The men, ers of the Commission <br />shall service such without compensation. <br /> <br /> 2. This ordinance shall take effect as of the date <br />of its adoption. <br /> <br /> Adopted by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, <br />at a meeting held June 28t 1983. <br /> <br />Teste: <br /> <br />City Clerk <br /> <br /> <br />
