RESOLUTION [ETEP~G THAT A PORTION OF ~E ~ OF PO~S~4OUIH LOCATED <br />.NEAR THE ELIZABETH R/VER, IS D~I'ERIORATING AND MAY BE ELIGIBLE FOR <br />CONSERVATTON AND REQUESTING THE PORTSMODqH REDEVELOP}~ AND HOUSING <br />AUI~ORITY TO INVESTIGATE SUCH POR~ION OF THE CITY AND~ IF CO~SERVATION <br />OF kNY ELIGIBLE AREA THERE]%; IS CEEr~D BY SAID AUI~ORITY TO BE FEASIBLE, <br />TO PREPARE A CONSERVATION Pt_~N ~IEt~EFOR. <br /> <br /> WH~AB, the Portsmouth Redevelopment and Housing Authority, at <br />the request of the Council, has investigated and reported to the Council on <br />the condition of that portion of the City of Portsmouth bounded generally as <br />follows: On the north by the Elizabeth River, on the east by the east side <br />of Crawford Street, on the south by London Street, and on the west by <br />Washington Street, which portion of the City is well known to the members <br />of the Council. <br /> <br /> NOW, THEHEFOEE, BE IT ~ESOLVED by the Council of the City of <br />Portsmouth, Virginia. <br /> <br /> That it appears to the Council that a certain portion of the City <br />described generally as being bounded on the north by the Elizabeth River, <br />on the east by the east side of Crawford Street, on the south by London <br />Street, and on the west by Washington Street is deteriorating and m~y be <br />eligible for conservation as provided under Section 36-48.1, et seq, of the <br />Code of Virginia, 1950, as amended. It is so declared, and the Portsmouth <br />Redevelopment and Housing Authority is hereby requested to investigate such <br />portion of the City of Portsmouth and, if such investigation indicates that <br />the conservatio~ of any sl~m, blighted, deteriorated or deteriorating area <br />therein is feasible, to delineate such~area and prepare a plan for the <br />conservation thereof. <br /> <br /> C~opted by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, at <br /> a meeting held March 9, 1965. <br /> <br /> Teste: <br /> <br />City Clerk <br /> <br /> <br />
