~mREAS, Interstate 264 in Portsnouth, Interstate 264 in <br /> Norfolk and Interstate 464 in Norfolk are being constructed or will <br /> be constructed in the near future, and <br /> <br /> WHEBEAS, the State Highway Department is presently engaged <br /> in a study of the redesio~a of the interchange of Interstate Routes <br /> 264 and 464 with the Berkley Bridge in Norfolk with the view toward <br /> the construction of an additior~zl span over the eastern branch of <br /> the Elizabeth River at Berkley, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the construction of the aforesaid interstate highways <br /> will probably generate additiooal traffic through the do~mto~m tunnel <br /> under the southern brmnch of the Elizabeth River between Norfolk and <br /> Portsmouth. <br /> <br /> N~,~ ~HEREFORE, BE IT RESOL~ED by the Co~ucil of the City of <br />'Portsmouth, Virginia, that the State Highway Department is hereby <br />requested to e~large its present study of the interchange in Berkley <br />to include in its. study thee need for au additional tube ~under the <br />sbuthern brauch of the Elizabeth River between NorfoLk and Portsmouth. <br /> <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution be <br /> forwarded to the State High~ay Coa~issioner a~d the City of Norfolk. <br /> <br /> Adopted by the Comucil of the City of Port~aouth, Virginia, <br /> at a meetirg held November 8, 1966. <br /> <br /> Teste: <br /> <br />City Clerk <br /> <br /> <br />
