Pursuant to 95 -441.~9:1 of the Code of Virginia (Chapter 191, Acts of Assembly, 1968), there is hereby imposed in the City of Portsmouth a local city use t~_x at the rate of one per cent to provide revenue for the general fluid Of the city. The said city use tax shall be added to the rate of the State use tax ir~. osed by Chaoter 8.1, Title 58, of the Code of Virgir~ia~ aand shall be subject to all-the pro-eisions of that chapter, and all amen~ents thereof, and the ~les and regulations published ~th respect thereto. 1~nerefore, the purpose of th_is resolution is to impose the local use tax authorized by § 58-441.49:1 of the Code of Virginia. 2. ~*ne effective date of the use tax Lmoosedby thinS' ' resolution shall be the first day of July, 1968, and the sam~ shall be in force on and a~e_ that date. ~. The Clerk of the Council of the City-of Portsmouth shall forthwith fo~rd to the State Tax Cor~ssioner of the Co~onwealth of Virgi_~_ia a certified copy of this resolution so t~mt it will be received withLn five days after its adoption.
