A RESOLUTION TO PROVIDE FOR THE ACQLriSITION OF CEP~AT,N PROPERTY'BY THE <br />CITY OF POP~,'t0U~H UNDER t~'4I~T D~AIN PROC,;~;~)INGS PURSUANT TO CHAP- <br />TEE 229 OF THE-ACTS OF ASSM~LY OF 1966, SAID PROPERTY BW_~NG NECESSARY <br />F0~ THE CONSTRUCTION, WIDENING AND iD4PROVf~'~NT OF STATE HIGPMAY ROLrIE <br /> <br />IN'i~ECTION OF LONDON AND ~'~'IiYGHAM STREETS. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, in cooperation with the Federal and State governments, <br /> State Highvay Route 58 is beirg constructed, vrldened and improved frsm <br /> the intersection of Airline Boulevard and High Street to the intersection <br /> of Lorflon and Effingham Streets in the City of Portsmouth, ~rg~n~a, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, one of the obligations of the City of Portsmouth with <br /> respect to said project is the provision of the land necessary for the <br /> construction; and <br /> <br /> WHEP~JYS, the City of Portsmouth has found it to be necessary to <br />acquire the interest hereinafter specified in and to the hereirafter des- <br />cribed parcels of land situate in the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, for <br />-She purpose of constructing, widening and improving the aforesaid State <br /> <br /> Highway Route 58; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City of Portsmouth has net been able to purchase <br /> <br /> the property described herein, necessary to the project, because the <br /> owners thereof and the City have not b&en able to aEree upon the price <br /> to be paid therefor, or the City has not been able to locate certain of <br /> the o~aaers or because of the s~atus of the title of certain parcels of <br /> <br /> the ~ · <br /> properw, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, advancement of the york and use of said State High, my <br /> Route 58 will be delayed unreasonably if the said property is not made <br /> available as soon as possible. -~ <br /> <br /> <br />
