P~ESOLUTtON ADOPTING THE CHA~f'~l~ AGR~Eh~f OF THE soUT~.±.~ VIRGi~iA PLANNING DISTRICT'-CO~ff~SI~N WHERE~S, the Virginia Area Development. Act (Title !5.1~ Chapter ~, Sections 15.1-140G, et-seq-., Code of Virginia, 1950, as amer~d); ~u- thorizes bhe organization oS a Planning District Con~dSsion by written Char~ter Agreement; and WHEREA.S, .pmrsuant to Title 2.1, chapter 6.1, Section 2.1-63.5 o.f the Code of Virginia, 1~50, as ~ended, geographic boundaries of Plan- .ning District Number 20 have been established;, and- WHERE~S, the governing bodies' of ~the go~er~ehtat 's~bdivisions ambracing the majority of the population within said Planning District N~m- ber 20 desire to organize a Plar~ District Con~mission by written Charter Agreement; and WHEREAS, the Council of the' City of Portsmouth, Virginia, desires to Join in organizing such a Conm~ission so that the City Of Portsmouth vmill b.ec.o~e a pSrty to such Charter Agreement and be represented in the compo- smtion of the membership of such Co~mission; · . NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the 'Council of the City of Ports- .mouth, V~rginia: ~ ' . ~ ~ ~ 1. That on the 26th day of August, 1969, it hereby adopts the~ Charter Agreement of the Southeastern Virginia Pls_uning .District Co,dss!on, a copy of which is attached hereto and ~ade a part of t?~is resolution. 2. ~nat A. P. Johnson, Jr., City Manager of the City of Portsmouth be and hereby is authorized snd directed to sign ~ud execute, on behalf of the City of Portsmouth the said C~arter &~reament of the SoutheasternVirginia Plar~ District Commission. 3. That Caroline Gort, CityClerk be and hereby is authorized and directed to witness the sigr~ture of said A~ P..Johnson, Jr., City Manager, and to affix the official seal of the City of Portsmouth on said Charter Agreement.
