A RBSOLUTION REQUESTING THE ~i~NSt~ION~D COUNTY BOARD <br />OF SUPi~¥-fSORS NOT TO GRAN~r A PEP~MIT FOR THE EREC- <br />TION OF A TELEVISION ~aND/OR RADIO TO~FBR IN THE <br />VACINITY OF THE CHESAPEAKe-PORTSMOUTH AIRPORT. <br /> <br /> %~-iERFAS, it has come the attention of the Portsmouth <br />City .Council that application has been made to the Nansemond County <br />Board of Supervisors for construction of another television tower <br />in the Shoulders Hill section of Nansemond Cotunty; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the construction of said tower at the location <br />now requested by the erecting television station will constitute an <br />additional hazard to the aircraft using the Chesapeake-Portsmouth <br />Airport and/or will increase an already hazardous situation caused <br />by existing television and/or radio towers; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Chesapeake-PortsmouthAirport is presently <br />extending the airport runways and facilities; and <br /> <br /> ?f W~dtEAS, t~e Chesapeake-PortsmouthAirport is the source <br />'of recreation to the citizens of Chesapeake, Portsmouth and Nanse- <br />mond County as well as a grmving area-wide industry. <br /> <br /> N(Bi, THEREFORE BE IT'RESOL%qiD thatfl~e City Council bf the <br /> City of Portsmouth strongly opposes the construction of any television <br /> and/or radio tower closer to the ~hesapeake-Portsmouth Airport than <br /> the already existing towers and.respectfully request that the Board <br /> of Supervisors of Nansemond Cotmty consider this resolution when de- <br /> ciding whether or not to grant any permits for the erection df tele- <br /> vision and/or radio tower or towels closer to the Chesapeake-Ports- <br /> mouth Airport than the already existing television and/or radio towers. <br /> <br /> Adopted by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, <br /> at a meeting held November 11, 1969. <br /> <br /> Test~: <br /> <br />City Clerk <br /> <br /> <br />
