RESOLUTION OPPOSING THE APPLICATION <br /> OF THE RAILWAY EXPRESS AGENCY TO <br /> DISCONTINUE ITS OFFICE AT WEST <br />· NORFOLK. <br /> <br /> WEEP~EAS, ~he Railway Express .Agency, Inc. of <br />Virginia has applied to the State Corpora%ion Commission' <br />for permission to discontinue its local office at West <br />Norfolk in the City of Portsmouth; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City of Portsmouth is aware of <br /> the problems experienced by the said company in connection <br /> with the operation of the aforesaid office and the reasons <br />· behind the request to discontinue this service; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the discontinuance of the said office <br />would eliminate the only place for such service in the City <br />of Portsmouth. <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of <br />the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, that this body hereby <br />recommends that the State Corporation Commission deny the <br />request of the Railway Express Agency, Inc., of Virginia for <br />permission to discontinue its office at West Norfolk in the <br />City of Portsmouth. <br /> <br /> BE IT FURTHER R~SOLVED, that a ~opy of this resolu- <br />tion be forwarded to the Railway Express Agency, Inc., of <br />Virginia and the State Corporation ~o~iss~on. <br /> <br /> Adopted by the Council ~f the City of Portsmouth, <br />Virginia, at a meeting held ~ov~m~er 10~ 1970. <br /> <br />Teste: <br /> <br />City Clerk <br /> <br /> <br />
