RESOLUTION REQUESTING THE STATE CORPOP~TION <br />CO~ISSION TO PROTECT THE INTERESTS OF PORTS- <br />MOUTH CONSUMERS WITH RESPECT TO THE RATE IN- <br />CREASE REQUESTED BY THE PORTSMOUTH GAS COMPANY. <br /> <br /> ~EREAS, Council is desirous of protecting the consumer <br />interests of its constituents who are gas consumers, not only <br />with respect to rates but with respect to the quality of service <br />received; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Portsmouth Gas Company provides gas service <br />· n the City of Portsmouth; and has filed for a rate increase which <br />would affect its customers in the City of Portsmouth; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, gas service is a necessity for the citizens, <br />businesses, industries and municipal government in the City of <br />Portsmouth.; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City does not wish to formally intervene in <br />this rate proceeding, but does wish to inform the State Corporation <br />Commission of the interest of its citizen~; <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City <br />of Portsmouth, Virginia, that the State Corporation Commission is <br />hereby requested to protect the interest of gas consumers in the <br />City of Portsmouth and to insure the maintenance of high quality <br />service at reasonable rates for gas consumers ~n the City of Ports- <br />mouth. <br /> <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Clerk is directed to <br />forward a copy of this resolution to the Clerk of the State Corpo- <br />ration Commission. <br /> <br /> Adopted by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, <br />at a meeting held December 7, 1971. <br /> <br />Teste: <br /> <br />City Clerk <br /> <br /> <br />
