A RESOLUTION COMMENDING MISS KATHERINE <br />BRUCE LIEBLER UPON HER SELECTION AS <br />"MISS PORTSMOUTH, 1971" <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Miss Katherine Bruce Liebler, daughter <br />of Mr. and Mrs. Allan Liebler, Jrt, a graduate of ChurchL <br />land High School, presently a freshman at Old Dominion <br />University, has recently been selected as "Miss Ports- <br />mouth, 1971", for the City of Portsmouth, Virginia; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, during her four years at Churchland <br />High, she demonstrated an interest in sohool and community <br />events, in her senior year serving as president of the <br />Churchland Tri-Ei-Y, and assisting in campaigns to aid <br />physically handicapped children; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Miss Liebler has decided to major in <br />elementary education, continuing her interest in young <br />children and recognizing the importance of dedicated <br />attention to their needs in the most formative stages of <br />their lives; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the honoree graciously considers the <br />honors and achievements attained provide new avenues for <br />encouragement of other young people in reaching worthy <br />goals, and hopes by continued service to her City as <br />"Miss Portsmouth" to demonstrate that the reward of honor <br />is not in title but in acceptance of purposeful challenge. <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the ~ouncil <br />of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, that Miss Liebler be <br />hereby commended on behalf of the citizens of this City <br />for her early achievements but, more important, for her <br />dedication to commendable ideals in future endeavors. <br /> <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this reso- <br />lution be spread on the minutes of'this Council and that <br />a copy be presented to Miss Katherine Bruce Liebler. <br /> <br /> Adopted by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, <br />Virginia, at a meeting held April 13, 1971. <br /> <br />Teste: <br /> <br />City Clerk <br /> <br /> <br />
