41 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION REQUESTING THE DIRECTOR OF THE VIRGINIA DEPARTMENT <br />OF WELFARE AND INSTI~TIONS TO ESTABLISH A STATE-OPERATED COURT <br />SOCIAL SERVICE UNIT FOR THE JUVENILE AND DOMESTIC RELATIONS <br />DISTRICT COURT OF PORTSMOUTH. <br /> <br /> ~EREAS, Sections 16.1-204 and 16.1-205 of the Code <br />of Virginia, 1950 as amended, permits cities with the approval <br />of their governing bodies and after consultation with the Chief <br />Judge of the Juvenile and Domestic Relations District Court to <br />request the establishment of a State-operated Court Social <br />Servace Unit for their Juvenile and Domestic Relations District <br />Courts; and <br /> W~EREAS, after consultation with the Chief Judge of <br />the Juvenile and Domestic Relations District Court for the City <br />of Portsmouth, it has been determined that the establishment of <br />such a State-operated Court Social Service Unit would be bene- <br />ficial to the operation of said Court; and <br /> WHEREAS, it is felt that the 'establishment of such <br /> a unit would be beneficial to the citizens of Portsmouth. <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT .RESOLVED by the Council of the <br /> City of Portsmouth that it hereby requests and strongly urges <br /> the Director of the S~ate Depar~aent of Welfare and Institutions <br /> to establish a State-operated court Social Service Unit for the <br /> Juvenile and Domestric Relations District Court of Portsmouth <br /> an accordance with Sections 16.1-204 and 16.1-205 of the Code <br /> of Virginia, 1950, as amended. <br /> <br /> Adopted by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Vir- <br /> ginia, at a meeting held June 12, 1973. <br /> <br />Teste: <br /> <br />City Clerk <br /> <br /> <br />
