A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO APPLY FOR A PERMIT <br />FROM THE VIRGINIA DEPARTMENT OF HIGHWAYS TO INSTALL A TWELVE <br />INCH DUCTILE IRON GRAVITY SEWER BETWEEN TOWNE POINT ROAD AND <br />CEDAR LANE, AND TO SIGN A BOND IN THE AMOUNT OF $1,000. FOR <br />SAID PROJECT. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, it becomes necessary from time to time for <br />the City of Portsmouth to obtain permits from the Virginia De- <br />partment of Eighways to install, construct, reconstruct, main- <br />tain, and operate certain public works along, across, over and <br />upon the highway system of Virginia; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, expense, damage or injury may be sustained <br />by the Commonwealth of Virginia growing out of the granting to <br />said City of Portsmouth by the Virginia Department of Highways <br />of said permits for the work aforesaid; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, one of the conditions of such permit or per- <br />mits Ks that the City of Portsmouth shall indemnify the Common- <br />wealth of Virginia against all damages and injuries to the high- <br />ways and bridges and to persons or property lawfully upon such <br />highways. <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the <br />City of Portsmouth, Virginia, that the City Manager be, and he <br />hereby is authorized to apply for a permit from the Virginia <br />Department of Highways to install a twelve inch ductile iron <br />gravity sewer between Towne Point Road and Cedar Lane and to <br />sign a bond in the form attached hereto in the amount of One <br />Thousand and 00/100 ($1,000.)
