71 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION TO AUTHORIZE THE CITY ~LANAGER AND THE DIRECTOR OF <br />PUBLIC gTIL!TIES TO EXECUTE AND FOR$~L~RD APPLICATIONS AND RELATED <br />DOCUMENTS TO THZ Ei~¥IRON[~iENTAL PROTECTION AGENCY, UNITED STATES <br />OF A24ERiCA, FOR THE GP~NT OF FEDERAL FUNDS FOR THE CONSTRUCTION <br />OF ~ASTE WATER TREATMENT FACILITIES. <br /> <br /> WHER~_~tS, the Federal Water Pollution Control Act, as <br />amended in 1972, provides for reimbursement to communities which <br />had previously constructed waste water facilities deemed eligible <br />for Federal grant assistance but did not receive the maxzm~m grant <br />allowable at the time of construction; and <br /> <br /> ~fHEREAS, the Director of Public Utilities has advised <br />the City Council that the City of Portsmouth has constructed <br />facilities which are eligible for said reimbursement; and <br /> <br /> t'~EREAS, the Envirop~entat Protection Agency requires <br />that the governing body of the applicant for said reimbursement <br />authorize a representative, by name and title, to execute and <br />forward applications and related documents. <br /> <br /> NOW, T~REFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the Council of the <br />City of Portsmouth, Virginia, that the City Manager, Phin Horton, <br />and the Director of Public Utilities~ P. J. Brady, are each here- <br />by authorized and directed to execute and forward any and all ap- <br />plications and related docmments on behalf of the City of Ports- <br />mouth, Virginia, to the Environmental Protection Agency for the <br />grant of reimbursement funds for previously constructed and eli- <br />gible waste water treatment facilities, in accordance with the <br />provzsions of the Federal Water Pollution Control Act Amendments <br />of 1972. <br /> <br /> Adopted by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Vir- <br />ginia, at a meeting held August 27, 1974. <br /> <br />Teste: <br /> <br />City Clerk <br /> <br /> <br />
