A RESOLUTION CO~.~E~DI~G ~Yi~iOND B. S~giTH FOR HIS <br />SERVICES AS COUi~CII/~LAN TO Tt,iE CITY OF PORTSMOUTH. <br /> <br /> ~rlEREAS, Raymond B. Smith, served for two years as <br />a member of the Planning Commission, and as a Councilman <br />for the past four years, demonstrating a dedicated inter- <br />est In its problems; and <br /> <br /> W~tEREAS, this service, as a Councilman, required <br />during the period from July 1, 1970 to June 30, 1974, <br />many hours of stu~ty and adjudication of matters in <br />conference and special meetings, in addition to the <br />regular session of the City Council; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, his devotion to the general welfare of the <br />City and all its people was manifest during his fruitful <br />term of office during a difficult period in our City's <br />history, due to necessity for economic restraint and in- <br />escapable demands for cont%nued progress. <br /> <br /> THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED~ by the Council of the <br />City of Portsmouth, Virginia, that the valuable contrl- <br />bunions to the progress of o?r City made by Raymond B. <br />S.mith be~acknow!edged with sincere gratitude and appre- <br />ciation; and <br /> <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVES that a copy of this resolution <br />be presented to Mr. Raymon~ Bo Smith, and that it be made <br />a part of the permanent re~ords of.the City Council. <br /> Adopted by the coUnci~ of the City of Portsmouth, <br />Virginia, at a meeting hela on July 23~ 1974. <br /> <br />Mayor <br /> <br />Attest: City Clerk <br /> <br /> <br />
