5O <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION APPROVING, RATIFYING AND ADOPTING T~ CITY OF <br />PORTS~iOUTH GRIEVANCE POLICY AND AUTHORIZING T~iE CiTY MANAGER <br />TO SUBMIT SUCH POLICY TO THE DIRECTOR, DIVISION OF PERSONNEL <br />FOR THE CO~IO~q~ALTH OF VIRGINIA. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Section 15.1-7.1 of the Code of Virginia, <br />1950, as amended, provides that the governing body of every <br />city which has more than fifteen employees shall establish a <br />grievance procedure for its employees to afford an iD~ediate <br />and fair method for the resolution of disputes which may arise <br />between such public ~ployer and its employees; and <br /> <br /> WHEREASi said section further provides that any such <br />grievance procedure shall conform to like procedures establish- <br />ed by the Governor and shall be submitted to the Director of <br />the Division of Personnel of the Commonwealth of Virginia for <br />approval; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City Manager in performance of his duties <br />as the administrative and executive head of the municipal govern- <br />ment of. the City of Portsmoutht Virginia, has established a <br />grievance policy to be designated the City of Portsmouth Griev- <br />ance Policy. <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the <br />City of Por%smouth, Virginia, that the City of Portsmouth <br />Grievance Policy~ as attached hereto, is hereby approved, rati- <br />fied and adopted. <br /> <br /> BE IT FURT~iER RESOLVED by the Council of the City of <br />Portsmouth that the City Manager is hereby authorized and direct- <br />ed to submit such policy to the Director, Division of Personnel <br />for the Commonwealth of Virginia for approval. <br /> <br /> Adopted by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Vir- <br />ginia~ at a meeting held June 25, 1974. <br /> <br />Teste: <br /> <br />City Clerk <br /> <br /> <br />
