A RESOLUTiO~ REQUESTING T}LAT THE H~2[PTO_~ ROADS SANITATION DIS- <br />TRICT CO~-'K~[ISSION APPROVE THE FLOW ALLOCATION AT THE %~ESTERN <br />BP~ANCH !~ASTEW_~TER TREATMEiqT PLANT AS PRESENTED AT THE FEBRUARY <br />26, 1974 MEETING OF THE HAMPTON ROADS SANITATION DISTRICT COM- <br />MIS SiOi,[ AND COUrts,ENDING THE ~DI~PTON ROADS SAMiTATION DISTRICT <br />CO[~4ISStON FOR AWARDING A CONTRACT FOR PREEIMIb~ARY P~=NNiNG OF' <br />THE PROPOSED "NAS~SEMOND PLAN?~. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS~ the Hampton Roads Sanitation District Co~=mission <br />has proposed a system of flow allocation at the Western Branc~ <br />Wastewater Treatment Plant which said plant serves a portion of <br />the City of Portsmouth; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS~ the proposed flow allocation is less than the <br />projected needs, which therefore~ requzres the greatest utili- <br />zation of the available flow mo serve the interest of the City <br />of Portsmouth; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Hampton Roads Sanitation District Co~mission <br />will consider at a public meeting on March 19, 1974, flow allo- <br />cations for the Western Branch Wastewater Treatment Plant. <br /> <br /> NOW~ THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City <br />of Portsmouth~ Virginma~ that it strongly urges that the Hampton <br />Roads Sanitation District Commission approve the flow allocation <br />as presented at the February 26, 1974 meeting of the Hampton Roads <br />Sanitation District Commission in order that development will be <br />able to continue within expected guidelines; that the~Council of <br />the City of Portsmouth pledges its support to the Hampton Roads <br />Sanitation District Co~_ission in fulfilling the intent of what <br />appears to be an equitable flow allocation policy; that the <br />Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia~ co~mends Hampton <br />Roads Sanitation District CoD~ission for awarding a contract for <br />preliminary planning for the proposed ~Nansemond Plant~'~ and that <br />the Co~mncil of the City of Portsmouth~ Virginia, strongly encourages <br />Hampton Roads Sanitation District Commission to proceed i~mediately <br />with construction of the "Nansemond Ptant~' which is scheduled for <br />completion by 1977. <br /> <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Ports- <br />mouth, Virgmnia~ that a copy of this Resolution be sent to the <br />Hampton Roads Sanitation District Com~mission and be presented at <br />the aforementioned public meeting° <br /> <br /> Adopted by the Council of the City of Portsmouth~ Virginia, <br />at a meeting held March 12, 1974. <br /> <br />Teste: <br /> <br />City Clerk <br /> <br /> <br />
