3. The Council endorses the efforts of the South- <br />eastern Tidevzater Economic Action Workshop, comprislng repre- <br />sentatives of various governmental agenciesf comMunity-oriented <br />groups, religious organizations and citizens groups, to provice <br />~ergency assistance to citizens in need, during the winter <br />Ir~onths of December, 1974~ through January, February, March and <br />April, 1975; and be it resolved that: <br /> <br /> 4. The Council supports the estab!is~ment of an <br />Lmergency Economic Crisis Center, to be coordinated by the STOP <br />Organization for handling emergency crises in housing, food, <br />clothing, transportation, fuel, and adequate home equipment <br />through a pooling of resources, information and outreach during <br />the months of December, 1974, January, February, March and April, <br />1975, or for as long as the previously described crisis situation <br />exists; and be it resolved that: <br /> <br /> 5. The Council will join with the m~m-ergency Economic <br />Crisis Center to seek the cooperation of those agencies that <br />terminate vital services~ such as electricity, gas, telephone, <br />wa~er, and housing, on weekends~ and urge a conscientious review <br />of individual situations prior to termination; and be it resolved <br />that: <br /> <br />adopting this <br />situation. <br /> <br />The Council will move with all possible haste in <br />resolution which is intended to address the crisis <br /> <br /> Adopted by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Vir- <br />ginia, at a meeting held December 3, 1974. <br /> <br />Teste: <br /> <br />City Clerk <br /> <br /> <br />
