81 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION HONORING THE LATE FREDERICK WHARTON BEAZLEY. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS~ on the second day of October, nineteen hund- <br />red and seventy-four, death brought to a close the active life <br />of Frederick Wharton Beazley; and <br /> <br /> WHERE~AS~ Frederick Wharuon Beazley~ through his fore- <br />sight and zeal ~or this co~unity, has earned the affection of <br />the citizens of the City of Portsmouth~ Virginia, by his con- <br />tributions, made in the spirit of humanitarianism; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS~ the countless beneficiaries of his great <br />generosity are the citizens of the City of Portsmouth whose <br />quality of life has been improved through his gifts to the <br />Beaz!ey Foundation~ Inc., Foundation Boys Club, Inc.~ Frederick <br />Military Academy, Frederick College (now Tidewater Community <br />College), Portsmouth General Hospital, Portsmouth Public Health <br />Center~ City Dental Clinic, and several recreation centers; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, <br />life and monumental <br />the designation as <br /> <br />Frederick Wharton Beazley, by his exemplary <br />achievements in the co~unity truly earned <br />Portsmouth's "First Citizen~'. <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of <br />the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, on behalf of the citizens of <br />Portsmouth, recognizes the profound influence of Frederick <br />?Laarton Beazley, upon present and future generations of our <br />citizens for his service to our con. unity. <br /> <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that this resolution be <br />spread upon the mznutes of City Council and that a copy be <br />presented to the Beazley Foundation, Inc., members of the im- <br />mediate family, and a copy to be placed on the wall of the <br />City Council Cham~er. <br /> <br /> Adopted by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, <br />Virginia, at a meeting held October 22, 1974. <br /> <br />Teste: <br /> <br />City Clerk <br /> <br /> <br />
