A RESOLUTION ADOPTING THE ESTABLISI~ENT OF THE EASTERN VIRGINIA F~EDICAL AUTHORITY PURSUANT TO THE PROVISIONS OF CHAPTER 396 OF THE ACTS OF ASSEMBLY OF VIRGINIA 1975. WHEREAS, the General Assembly of Virginia has by Chapter 396 of the Acts of Assembly of Virginia 1975 changed the name of-the "Norfolk Area Medical Center Authority" to the "Eastern Virginia Medical Authority" and increased the member- ship of the Authority from seven (7) to ten (10) members, and required that two (2) of such members shall be licensed members the medical profession; and of W~REAS~ such Act further provided that members of the Authority are to be appointed as follows: One (1) member each for the Cities Of Chesapeake, Hampton, Portsmouth and Suffolk; two (2) members for the City of Virginia Beach; and four (4) members for the City of Norfolk; and WHEREAS, said Act provided that four (4) of the members first appointed shall serve for a term of three (3) years, three (3) members first appointed shall serve for a term of two (2) years, and three (3) members first appointed shall serve for a term of one (1) year, the cities making said initial One (1.), two (2), and three (3) year term appointments to be agreed upon by the respective City Councils; and WHEREAS~ the several City Councils have agreed to a plan for appointing said initial members, including the initial licensed members of the medical profession, and Dave also agreed upon a plan for rotating the appointment of licensed members of the medical profession upon the termination, expiration or vacation of the term or terms of the initially appoint%d licensed members of the medical profession. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, that the terms for which the initial Commissioners appointed to the Eastern Virginia Medical Authority shall serve shall be as follows: The initial appointee for the City of Chesa- peake shall serve for a term of two (2) years; The initial appointee for the City of Hampton shall serve for a term of one (1) year; One initial appointee for the City of Norfolk shall serve for a te~m of one (1) year, one (!) initial appointee for the City of Norfolk shall serve for a term of two (2) years; and two (2)
