A RESOLUTION EXBRESSING SUPPORT OF PORTSMOUTH CITY COUNCIL FOR <br />TN~ PROPOSED EXPANSION OF THE NAVAL SH!PY/~O.D MUSEUM. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Museum and Fine Arts Com~lission has in- <br />itiated plans for expansion of the Naval Shipyard Museum; and <br /> <br /> WHER~?AS, the Municipal Finance Commission has review- <br />em this proposal and approved it; and <br /> <br /> ~'~HEREAS, City Council has previously appropriated <br />$50,000. to fund expansion of the muse-gm and desires to con- <br />tinue its efforts in support of this worthy endeavor. <br /> <br /> MOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the <br />City of Portsmouth, Virginia, that it hereby expresses its sup- <br />port for expansion plans for the Naval Shipyard Museum. <br /> <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that City Council also approves in <br />principle the co~itment of an additional sum up to $200~000. from <br />the General Revenue Sharing Funds to be utilized for such expansion, <br />subject to receipt of matching funds from the State of Virginia. <br /> <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the expenditure of funds <br />for museum expansion shall be accomplished in accordance with <br />procedures to be hereafter promulgated by the City Manager which <br />shall be comparable to procedures now in existence governing the <br />construction of Portsmouth schools, with the City of Portsmouth <br />acting as fiscal agent for such project. <br /> <br /> Adopted by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Vir- <br />ginia, at a meeting held January 14, 1975. <br /> <br />Testa: <br /> <br />City Clerk <br /> <br /> <br />
