to the Articles of Incorporation of the Southeastern Water Au- <br />thority of Virginia, pursuant to the Virginia Water and Sewer <br />Authorities Act (Chapter 28, Title 15.1, Code of Virginia of <br />1950, as amended) (the Act), to-wit: <br /> <br /> 1. The Article of Incorporation shall be amended <br />by striking out section (a) and substituting the following: <br /> <br /> (a) The name of the Authority shall be "Southeastern <br />Public Service Authority of Virginia" and the address of its <br />principal office shall be Norfolk, Virginia. <br /> <br /> 2. The Articles of Incorporation shall be amended by <br />striking out section (d) and substituting the following: <br /> <br /> (d) The purposes for which the Authority is to be <br />formed are to acquire, finance, construct, operate and main- <br />tain a water system and a garbage and trash collection and <br />disposal system, all pursuant to the provisions of the Vir- <br />ginia Water and Sewer Authorities Act. <br /> <br /> The Authority may contract with the incorporating <br />political subdivisions, any sanitary district thereof or any <br />authority therein created pursuant to the Act to furnish water <br />service and garbage and trash collection and disposal service <br />upon such terms as the Authority shall determine; provided, <br />however, that the same schedule of service rates shall be ap- <br />plicable to all such political subdivisions. The Authority <br />Ks expressly prohibited from contracting with any other party <br />desiring a supply of water except upon the written consent of <br />the city or county within the geographical boundary of' which <br />such party is located. <br /> <br /> Pending completion of the necessary engineering <br />studies and estimates, it is not practicable to set forth <br />herein preliminary estimates of capital costs and initial <br />rates for services of proposed projects. <br /> <br /> IN WITNESS WHEREOF, the Councils of the Cities of <br />Chesapeake, Franklin, Norfolk, Portsmouth, Suffolk and Vir- <br />ginia Beach and the Boards of Supervisors of the Counties of <br />Isle of Wight and Southampton have caused these Articles of <br />Amendment to be executed on their behalf by their presiding <br />officers and their seals to be affixed and attested by their <br />Clerks, this day of , 1975. <br /> <br />CITY OF C~ESAPEAKE <br /> <br />Mayor <br /> <br />-2- <br /> <br /> <br />
