A RESOLUTION REQUESTING TPi VIRGINIA CO}~iiSSiON OF OUTDOOR <br />CREATION TO ENDORSE .AN APPLICATION OF TN~2.~ CITY OF PORTSMOUTH <br />FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF A 35 ACRE T~ACT DESIGNATED AS CHURCH- <br />Lo!ND PAtRH} AND AUTHORIZING AND DIRECTi[~G TPR CiTY ~'[~NAGHR TO <br />~;h~_KE SAID APPLICATION. <br /> <br /> ~'rHEREAS, the City of Portsmouth purchased 35 acres <br />in Churchland in 1968 with an O~en Space Grant for $i50;000.; <br />and <br /> <br /> ?FJEREAS~ Grant regulations require said acres to be <br />u%i!ized for park and recreational use for a minimum of 20 <br />years; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, an application has been made to the Virginia <br />Commission of Outdoor Recreation for funds to develop said 35 <br />acres. <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE iT RESOLVED by the Council of ~he <br />City of Portsmouth, Virginia, that the V4rcinia CoP~ission of <br />Outdoor Recreation is urged to endorse an application of the <br /> ee~e=oN...ent of ~ 35 acre tract~..s_u~= ~ - <br />City of Portsmouth for the ~ '~ ~ ~m - <br />hated as Church!and Park. <br /> <br /> BE IT FURTi~R RESOLVED that the City Manager is au- <br />thorized and directed to make said application. <br /> <br /> Adopted by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, <br />Virginia, at a meeting held January 14, 197~. <br /> <br />Testa: <br /> <br />City Clerk <br /> <br /> <br />
