2O <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION APPROVING ~4ENDMENT NO. 8 TO THE REDEVELOPMENT PLAN <br />FOR THE CRAWFORD URBAN RENEWAL PROJECT, Va. R-53. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, this Council by resolution adopted August 1, <br />1967 approved a Redevelopment Plan for the Crawford Urban Re- <br />newal Projectv Va. R-53, Portsmouth, Virginia, which has been <br />amended from time to time; and <br /> <br /> ¥~EREAS, there was presented to this body for con- <br />sideration and approval a copy of an amended Redevelopment Plan <br />for the project area, dated February, 1976, which plan consists <br />of 15 pages and 2 exhibits; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Portsmouth Redevelopment and Housing Au- <br />thority has made detailed studies of the feasibility of adding <br />12.4 acres of property to the Crawford Urban Renewal Project, <br />Va. R-53 and has resolved that this action is viable and in the <br />best interests of the renewal effort; and <br /> <br /> Wt~REASw said Amendment No. 8 has been carefully re- <br />viewed and said Redevelopment Plan conforms to the general plan <br />for the development of the City of Portsmouth as a whole; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, in the judgment of this Council it is in the <br />interest of the City and its inhabitants that said Amendment be <br />approved. <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the <br />City of Portsmouth, Virginia: <br /> <br /> 1. That Amendment No. 8 to the Redevelopment Plan for <br />the Crawford Urban Renewal Project, Va~ R-53 having been duly re- <br />viewed and considered~ it is hereby found: <br /> <br /> a. That the objectives of the Crawford Urban Re- <br />newal Project, Va. R-53 Portsmouth, Virginia can be <br />better achieved by the adoption of said Amendmentc <br /> <br /> b. That Amendment No. <br />forms to the general plan <br />a whole. <br /> <br /> 8 for the project area con- <br />for the City of Portsmouth as <br /> <br /> c. That Amendment No. 8 will afford maximum oppor- <br />tunity, consistent with the needs of the City as a whole <br />for the redevelopment of the specified 12.4 acres by <br />private enterprise for commercial, residential, public <br />and semi-public reuse. <br /> <br /> <br />
