83 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION DESIGNATING A P~2RK AT THE CORNER OF CRAWFORD <br />STREET AND GLASGOW STREET TO BE KNO~LN AS LAFAYETTE PARK. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Portsmouth~ Virginia, AI~erican <br />Revolution Bicentennial Commission has named the arch <br />located at the park at the corner of Crawford Street <br />and Glasgow Street, to be the Lafayette Arch; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, such arch commemorates in part the visit <br />of the Marquise de Lafayette to Portsmouth ~n 1824, at <br />which time the original Arch was erected; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, such arch commemorates in part "Ail who <br />Have Lived Or Died For Freedom"; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the dedication of the arch and park <br />will be conducted on October 9, 1976 with a representative <br />of the French Embassy in attendance. <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of <br />the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, that the Park toca%ed <br />on the corner of Crawford Street and Glasgow Street is <br />designated as the "Lafayette Park". <br /> <br /> Adopted by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, <br />Virginia, at a meeting held September 28, 1976. <br /> <br />Teste: <br /> <br />City Clerk <br /> <br /> <br />
