32 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OPI~DSING THE 'I'~fENATION OF THE NC~RFOLK-C/NCINNATI PASS-- <br />ENG~ TRAIN "THE MOUNTAINEER". <br /> <br /> WHEPJKAS, the Secretary of the U. S. Department of Transportation is <br />presently considering the proposed cancellation of the Norfolk-Cincinnati <br />passenger train "The Mountaineer"; and <br /> <br /> ~K~IEAS, this Council feels termination of such passenger train <br />will have an adverse impact upon the conservation of energy as %,~ell as <br />~ econc~ay of Tidewater, Virginia; and <br /> <br /> WF~t~iEAS, it is generally felt in this co~r~mity that if the train <br />service is ~proved more passengers would be~ willing to ride. <br /> <br /> NOW, %~HEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, <br />Virginia, that it opposes the term/nation of the NorfolkCincinnati <br />passenger train "The Mountaineer". <br /> <br /> RE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Clerk shall forward a copy of <br />this Resolution to the Docket Clerk, OST File No. 52, Office, of the <br />General Counsel, Department of Transporhation, Washington, D.
