72 A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO CON\~Y CITY-O~ED PROPERTY TO THE PORTS~4OUTH REDEVELOPMENT AND ROUSING AUTHORITY (EASTERN ONE-HALF OF SIXTH STREET). WHEREAS~ the City of Portsmouth desires to convey to Portsmouth Redevelopment And Housing Authority a certain parcel of property which is hereinafter described; and WHEREAS, the said parcel is no longer needed by the City of Portsmouth and it is, therefore, declared to be surplus; and WHEREAS, the Portsmouth Redevelopment And Housing Authority desires that this land be incorporated into an adjacent tract of land already o~ed by said .Authority in the Southside One Redevelopment Project; and WHEREAS, this property foot; and the City of Portsmouth will be compensated for by the payment of fifty cents ($0.50) per square WHEREAS, Section 2.09(c) of the charter of the City of Portsmouth provides that the City may convey property to the Commonwealth of Virginia or any political subdivision thereof, without advertisement and without receiving bids; and ~EREAS, the Portsmouth Redevelopment And Housing Authority is a political subdivision of the Commonwealth of Virginia. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, that the City Manager be, and he hereby is, authorized to convey the following described property to Portsmouth Redevelopment And Housing Authority: Ail that certain oiece or parcel of land situate, lying and being in the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, being more par- ticularly described as follows: Beginning at the northeast inter- section of Jefferson Street and Sixth Street (before Sixth Street was closed) and from said beginning point northerly along the eastern side of Sixth Street to the southern side of Fayette Street; thence westerly and parallel with Jeffer- son Street 30 feet to the centerline of Sixth Street; thence southerly along said center!ine of Sixth Street to the north- ern side of Jefferson Street; thence east- ly along the northern side of Jefferson Street 30 feet to the Point of Beginning.
