78 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION REQU~_ ~STII~G THE ¥-J~RG!NIA STATE LIBR.ARY TO MI~ROFILM AND. <br />PRESERVE CA~TA/N RECORDS OF THE CITY OF PORTSMOUTH. <br /> <br /> ~KqERF3%S, the City of Porksmouth has for many years been concerned <br />about the preservation of the official records of the City; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, such records as presently stored stone subject to deterio-- <br />ration ~nd damage; and <br /> <br /> ~, the Virginia state Library has offered to microfilm and <br />preserve certain City records at no cost to the City. <br /> <br /> NOW, THERF~ORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Porks- <br />mmuth, Virginia, that the City Clerk is authorized to deliver certain <br />records, including ~inute Books~ Ordinance Books and Resolution Books, <br />plus any other records pertaining to permanent City records maintained <br />by the City Clerk, to the S~ate Archivist for microfilming. <br /> <br /> BE IT FURTHER P~SOLVED that the City Council does express <br />appreciation to the Virgir~a State Library for its generous assistance <br />in the preservation of these valuable records to maintain a historical <br />record of the City of Port~nouth. <br /> <br /> Adopted by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, at a <br />meeting held October 23, 1979. <br /> <br />Teste: <br /> <br />City Clerk <br /> <br /> <br />
