A RESOLUTION ALrfHORIZING THE CITY ~iANAGER TO C05ArEY PROPERTY TO STAR 'BAND REALTY CORPORATION (BROAD S~ AT PORTIA~ND S~); PdESERV!NG WHEREAS, by deed dated December 29, 1950, the Cit~v of _Portsmouth purchased frc~ Portsmouth Redevelopment And Housing Authority 15.75 acres, more or less, on the south side of Meander Road Cfonnerly Western Branch Road); and WP~$, subsequent to said conveyance, Broad Street was extended southwLrd from its intersection with Meander Road (formerly Westerr_ Br~nch Road) to form an intersection with Portland Street; and t~K%RE~, the creation of this intersection by extendin9 said streets left a remainder of a triangular shaped parcel of land on the north- ~s.t colu~er of said intersection adjacent to property previously conveyed to Star Band Realty Co ~rporation; and WHEREAS, subsequent deeds conveying adjoining property do not in- clude the b~ereinafter-described triangular parcel; and ¥~, the City Manager, having been duly authorized, did advertise and receive bids for the purchase of land and ~he improvements thereon, hereinafter-described on June 3, 1979; and ~, St~r Band Realty Corporation which has made use of the herein- after-described ps_~el for a period in excess of twen~y-five (25) years has submitted a proposal to purchase the property and existing improvements in exchange for granting the City of Portsmouth an easement 15' in vzidth for the operation a~]d m=~intensnce of an 8" sanitary sewer line across said prope~z_v. NC~~, ~ORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Ports- mauth~ Virginia, tb~t the City Manager be, and he hereby is, authorize~ to convey the hereinafter-described property to Star Band Realty Co~ation: All that certain piece or parcel of land, with i~prov=~mnts thereon, situate, lying and being in the City of Po-~T--~mouth, Virginia, bounded and de- scribed as follows: BEGI~WqING at the northwest intersection of Broad Street ~nd Portland Street; thence west alon9 the ~n~rthern boundazy of Portland Street 40' to a point; thence north 20052' East 106.47' to the western bot~dary of Broad Street; thence south along the western boundary of Broad Street 98.76' to the Po{ut of BegL~ning.
