A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO CONVEY CITY-OWNED <br />PROPERTY TO THE PORTSMOUTH REDEVELOPMENT AND ~OUSING AUTHORITY <br />(CRAWFORD PARKWAY~ND WASHINGTON STREET, OLDE TOWNE PROJECT, <br />BLOCK 16, PARCEL i). <br /> <br /> WI{EREAS, the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, <br />adopted Resolutions at meetings held August 26, 1980 and Sept- <br />ember 23, 1980, declaring the hereinafter-described property <br />to be surplus; and <br /> W/tEREAS, said Resolutions authorized the City Manager to <br />convey said property to the Portsmouth Redevelopment And Housing <br />Authority for the purpose of' negotiating the development there- <br />of with a private developer for a proposed to%rnhouse project <br />and the sale thereof for t~?stated assessed value of the pro- <br />perty of One Hundred Twenty Four Thousand, Six Hundred Forty <br />Dollars ($124,640.); and .~ <br /> WI~EREAS, the Portsmouth Redevelopment And Housing Authority <br /> has presented to the City Manager a contract for the purchase <br /> of said property by a developer for the stated assessed value <br /> of the property of One ~undred Twenty Four Thousand, Six Hundred <br /> Forty Dollars ($124,640.), which plan of development is accept- <br /> able to the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia; and <br /> WHEREAS, ~2.09 of the Charter of the City of Portsmouth <br /> provides that the City may convey property to the Commonwealth <br /> of Virginia or any political subdivision thereof without ad- <br /> vertisement and without, receiving bids; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Portsmouth Redevelopment And Housing Authority <br /> is a political subdivision of the Commonwealth of Virginia. <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City <br /> of Portsmouth, Virginia, that the City Manager be, and he hereby <br /> · d <br /> is, authorize to convey the following described property to <br /> the Portsmouth Redevelopment And Housing Authority for the <br /> purpose of disposing of same to a private developer for the <br /> development thereof of the proposed townhouse project: <br /> All that certain lot, piece or ~arcel <br /> of land, situate, lying and being in the City <br /> of Portsmouth, Virginia, bounded and described <br /> as follows: <br /> <br /> Beginning at a point which is the south- <br /> west intersection of Crawford Parkway and <br /> D±nwidd±e Street and from said point running <br /> S 3~ 41' 47" east 135.97' to a point; thence <br /> <br /> <br />
