A RESOLUTION ACCEPTING THE PROPOSAL OF THE DEPARTMENT OF HIGHWAYS <br />AND TRANSPORTATION OF THE COMMONWEALTH OF VIRGINIA TO PURC~LASE <br />CERTAIN PROPERTY ADJACENT TO CHURCHLAND BOULEVARD. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Department of ~ighways and Transportaion of <br />the Commonwealth of Virginia desires to purchase certain City- <br />owned property adjacent to Churchland Boulevard for the purpose <br />of road widening; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Department of Eighways and Transportation of <br />the Commonwealth of Virginia has offered to purchase said pro- <br />perry from the City of Portsmouth 'for the sum of Six Hundred, <br />Six ($606.) Dollars for the 'fee simple interest in the property <br />and for an additional temporary construction easemen~ and <br />utility easement to be used in connection with said road widening <br />project; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, said property is no longer needed by %he City of <br />Portsmouth or the Portsmouth School Board and is hereby declared <br />to be excess; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Department of Highways and Transportation is' <br />an agency of the Commonwealth of V±rginia~ and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Section 2.O9~b) of the Charter of the City of <br />Portsmouth provides that the City may sell or convey property <br />to the Commonwea!thof Virginia, any political subdivision <br />thereof, or to the Federal Government without advertisement <br />and without receiving bids therefor. <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City <br />of Portsmouth, Virginia, that the proposal of the Department <br />of Highways and Transportation of the Commonwealth of Virginia <br />to purchase the here±~afte~-descr!bed property for the sum of <br />Six Hundred, Six [$606.~ Dollars be, and the same hereby is, <br />accepted. The property to be purchased is described as follows: <br /> <br /> ~All that certain piece or parcel of land <br />situate in the ~City of Portsmouth, Virginia, <br />being shown on Sheet~ 70 of the plans for "Poplar <br />Hill and Towne Point Roads~ State Highway Project <br />U000-131-IO7, R/W 201", and lying on the south <br />(right) side of ChurchIand Boulevard survey center- <br />line and adjacent to the ~existing south right-of- <br />way line of present Churchland Boulevard from <br />the lands of Churchland Baptist Church opposite <br />approximate Station 16 + 48 to a point in the <br />lands, of the landowner opposite approximate <br />Station 17 + 72, and containing 0.003 acres, <br /> <br /> <br />
