85 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO CONVEY CITY- <br />OWNED PROPERTY ~D THE PORTSMOUTH REDEVELOPMENT AND HOUSING <br />AUTHORITY (TRUXTON SECONDARY EDUCATION CENTER, TAX MAP 151, <br />PARCELS~3, 27, 28, 29, 32, 33, 34). <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City of Portsmouth owns certain property <br />known as the Truxton Secondary Education Center which is <br />no longer needed by the City and with the adjacent City- <br />owned property is, therefore, declared to be surplus pro- <br />perty; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, this property is within the Truxton Conser- <br />vation Area; and <br /> WHEREAS, the assessed value of said property is <br />Seven Hundred One Thousand, Nine Hundred Forty Dollars <br />($701,940.); and - <br /> WHEREAS, the Portsmouth Redevelopment And Housing <br /> Authority desires to obtain title %0 ~aid property for <br /> the purpose of negotiating the development thereof with <br /> a private developer; and <br /> WHEREAS, Section 2.O9(c) of the Charter of the City of <br /> Portsmouth provides that the City may convey property to the <br /> Commonwealth of Virginia or any political subdivision thereof <br /> without advertisement and without receiving bids; and <br /> W~EREAS, the Portsmouth Redevelopment and Housing Authority <br /> is a political subdivision of the Commonwealth of Virginia. <br /> NOW, THEREFORE~ BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the <br /> City of. Portsmouth, Virginia, that the City Manager be, and <br /> he hereby is, authorized to convey the property generally <br /> known as the Truxton Secondary Education Center and the adjacent <br /> City property which consists of approximately 14.2 acres to <br /> the Portsmouth Redevelopment And Housing Authority. <br /> The terms of this conveyance shall be that the Portsmouth <br /> Redevelopment and Housing Authority will present to ~he City <br /> Manager a contract for the purchase of said property by a de- <br /> veloper and a proposal for its use which are to be subject to <br /> the approval of the City Council. <br /> <br /> BE IT ~URTHER RESOLVED that the City Manager be, and he <br /> hereby is, authorized to complete all transactions and execute <br /> all documents incident to such conveyance upon the conditions <br /> stated herein; that the City Manager be, and he hereby is, <br /> <br /> <br />
