<br />A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CONSTRUCTION AND INSTALLATION
<br />OF SIDEWALKS ALONG THE NORTH SIDE OF DORSET AVENUE FROM
<br />RAPIDAN STREET TO TAZEWELL STREET ABUTTING 600, 602, 604,
<br />606, 700, 702, 704, 706, 708, 800, 802, 806, 808, 810, 812
<br />AND 814 DORSET AVENUE AND 2544 STOWE STREET WHERE STANDARD
<br />SIDEWALKS DO NOT NOW EXIST, ASSESSING THE ABUTTING LAI~D-
<br />OWNERS AT THE COST OF $3.00 PER FRONT LINEAL FOOT, AND
<br />DIRECTING THAT AN ABSTRACT OF THIS RESOLUTION BE RECORDED
<br />TOGETHER WITH A STATEMENT SHOWING THE ESTIMATED AMOUNT
<br />THAT WILL BE ASSESSED AGAINST EACH SUCH LANDOWNER.
<br />
<br /> WHEREAS, by petition submitted in accordance with law,
<br />certain abutting landowners have pe~it±oned the City of
<br />Portsmouth to construct a sidewalk along the north side
<br />of Dorset Avenue from Rapidan Street to Tazewell Street
<br />abutting 600, 602, 604, 606, 700, 702, 704, 706, 708, 800,
<br />802, 806, 808, 810, 812 and 814 Dorset Avenue and 2544
<br />Stowe Street where standard sidewalks do not now exist,
<br />the cost thereof to be apportioned between the 'City and
<br />the abutting landowners; and
<br />
<br /> WHEREAS, notice has been duly given to the abutting
<br />landowners, as provided by law, that a hearing will be
<br />held before the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia,
<br />on September 23, 1980, at 7:30 P. M. in the Council Chambers;
<br />and
<br />
<br /> WHEREAS, said hearing was duly held, and inlthe judgment
<br />of the C~uncil, the said sidewalks sheuld be 'constructed.
<br />
<br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the
<br />City of Portsmouth, Virginia:
<br />
<br /> 1. That the construction of a sidewalk along the
<br />north side of Dorset Avenue from Rapidan Street to TazeweIt
<br />Street abutting 600, 602, 604, 606, 700, 702, 704, 706, 708,
<br />800, 802, 806, 808, 810, 812 and 814 Dorset Avenue and 2544
<br />Stowe Street where standard sidewalks do not now extstt
<br />is hereby authorized.
<br />
<br /> 2. That the abutting landowners shall be assessed
<br />at the rate of Three Dollars f$3.00) per front lineal foot
<br />pursuant to a petition slgned~by seventy-five percent ~75%)
<br />of the property owners affected by the requested ~i~mproyements.
<br />
<br /> 3. That the City Clerk shall forthwitRlcause to be
<br />recorded in the Clerk's Office of the ~Circuit Court of the
<br />City of Portsmouth, Virginia, an abstract of this resolution,
<br />together with a statement showing the ownership and location
<br />of the property to be 'affected by the proposed s±de~alk and
