49 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION APPROVING AMENDMENT NO. <br />REDEVELOPMENT PLAN FOR THE SOUTHSIDE <br /> <br />1 TO THE SOUTHSIDE IV <br />IV REDEVELOPMENT PROJECT. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, this Council by resolution adopted May 9, 1978, <br />approved a Redevelopment Plan for the Southside IV Redevelopment <br />Project, Portsmouth, Virginia; and <br /> <br /> ~EREAS, there has been presented to this body for con- <br />sideration and approval, a copy of an amended Redevelopment <br />Plan for the project area, dated June~ 1981~ which plan consists <br />of 12 pages and 2 exhibits; and <br /> <br /> WtIEREAS, Amendment No. 1 proposes to add certain property <br />to the project area; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, said Annendment No. 1 has been carefully reviewed <br />and said Redevelopment Plan conforms to Comprehensive Plan <br />for the City of Portsmouth~ adopted June, 1980, which is used <br />as a guide for development of the City of Portsmouth as a <br />whole; and <br /> <br /> WHEREkS, Portsmouth Redevelopment and Housing Authority <br />has resolved that this A~endment is in the best interest of <br />the City's renewal effort; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, this Council is cognizant of the conditions <br />that are imposed by the provisions of the Housing and Community <br />Development Act of 1974, as amendedt including those prohibiting <br />discrimination because of race, age, color, creed, sex or <br />national origin; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, in the judgment of this Council <br />interest of the City and its inhabitants that <br />be approved. <br /> <br />of <br /> <br />it is in the <br />the said Amendment <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City <br />Portsmouth, Virginia: <br /> <br /> 1. That Amendment No. 1 to the Redevelopment Plan for <br />the Southside IV Redevelopment Project, having been duly re- <br />viewed and considered, it is hereby found: <br /> <br /> (a) That the objectives of the Southside IV Re- - <br />development Project, Portsmouth, Virginia, can be better <br />achieved by the adoption of said Amendment. <br /> <br /> (b) That Amendment No. 1 for the project area <br />conforms to the Comprehensive Plan for the City of Portsmouth <br />as a whole and continues to meet the requirements as a Re- <br />development Project under Title 36 of the Code of Virginia, <br />1950, as amended. <br /> <br /> <br />
