85 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION ACCEPTING AS A GIFT FROM JOSEPH J. GARNER, JR. <br />THE CONVEYANCE OF 2 ACRES OF I~AND, MORE OR LESS, LOCATED AT <br />THE INTERSECTION OF HIGH STREET WEST AND CEDAR LANE. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Joseph J. Garner, Jr. owns a certain parcel of <br />undeveloped land located in the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, <br />which he wishes to donate, give and convey to the City of <br />Portsmouth; and <br /> <br />W~EREAS, at the request of the City of Portsmouth said <br />property was recently appraised at the value of Fifty Thousand <br />($50,000) Dollars, which is believed to represent the present <br />fair market value of said property; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Council of the City of Portsmouth has <br />determined 'that acquisition of. said property will be beneficial <br />to the City of Portsmouth and its citizens. <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the <br />City of Portsmouth, Virginia, that the City of Portsmouth <br />shall, and does hereby accept as a gift from Joseph J. Garner, <br />Jr., for the benefit of the City of Portsmouth and its <br />citizens, that certain parcel of land located in the City of <br />Portsmouth, Virginia, on the northwest intersection of High <br />Street West and Cedar Lane, containing 2 acres, more or <br />less, more particularly described in a'certain deed of gift <br />from Joseph J. Garner, Jr., dated October 12, 1981. <br /> <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the City of <br />Portsmouth, Virginia, hereby expresses its gratitude to <br />Joseph J.
